“Perkins” Walnut .350 Legend AR-15 Kit – Team Dream Build
Perkins is a classy .350 Legend hunting build with old-school warmth and modern AR-15 function. Built around WOOX walnut furniture, a 16″ Faxon barrel, adjustable gas, and a 1-8x LPVO, this Team Dream Build is made for hunters who want straight-wall cartridge performance without giving up the familiar AR platform.

“Perkins” started as a retro-modern hunting rifle with a warmer, more traditional feel than a typical black AR. The WOOX walnut stock, grip, and handguard give the build its personality right away, while the AT3 receiver set, Faxon .350 Legend barrel, adjustable gas block, and modern controls keep it firmly in the AR-15 world.See Full Specs
The goal behind this build was simple: create a classy straight-wall hunting rifle that still handles like an AR. .350 Legend makes sense for hunters in areas where straight-wall cartridges are required or preferred, and the 16″ barrel keeps the rifle practical for travel, stands, blinds, and field use without adding unnecessary length.
This is not a featherweight build, and that is part of the point. The walnut furniture adds some weight, but on a hunting rifle that can help the gun feel steadier and more comfortable behind the trigger. “Perkins” has the look of something old, the control layout of something modern, and a personality that feels more deer camp than duty rifle.
Upper Receiver Parts
The upper assembly is built around an AT3 Slick Side Billet Upper Receiver, a 16″ Faxon Firearms .350 Legend Gunner barrel, and the WOOX Vigilante walnut handguard. The result is a clean, classic-looking front end with modern AR-15 function underneath.
Because .350 Legend can benefit from gas tuning, this build uses a CMMG ZEROED .750″ adjustable gas block paired with the supporting gas system components. An AT3 black nitride bolt carrier group, Breek Arms Sledgehammer charging handle, Timber Creek billet dust cover, and Dead Air Xeno muzzle device round out the upper with practical upgrades for a hunting-focused AR.
Lower Receiver Parts
The lower starts with an AT3 Lower Receiver with trigger guard and adds a Rise Armament RAVE 140 single-stage trigger for a cleaner break than a standard mil-spec setup. The lower is rounded out with AT3 small parts, a mil-spec bolt catch, magazine catch components, ambidextrous safety, extended magazine release, and takedown/pivot pins.
For the recoil system, Perkins uses a mil-spec buffer tube, Strike Industries flat wire buffer spring, Odin Works adjustable heavy buffer weight, AT3 castle nut, and Timber Creek QD end plate. It is a modern lower setup, but it stays simple and practical for a rifle meant to be carried, shot, and used in the field.
ACCESSORIES
Perkins uses a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8×24 SFP rifle scope in a Geissele Super Precision 30mm mount. The 1-8x range makes sense for a .350 Legend hunting rifle, giving you a low-end setting for closer shots in the woods and enough magnification for stretching the cartridge to practical hunting distances.
The Geissele mount keeps the optic setup sturdy and clean, matching the rest of the build’s “modern parts under a classic skin” approach.
The magazine setup includes Duramag stainless steel .350 Legend magazines in both 20-round and 10-round options. The 20-round magazine gives the build a standard range-ready option, while the 10-round magazine is a useful choice for hunting setups or areas where lower-capacity magazines are preferred or required.
A STNGR ARCA rail section adds support-shooting flexibility for tripods, rests, or other ARCA-compatible gear. It is a small addition, but it fits the build’s field-focused purpose and gives the rifle more options beyond basic offhand shooting.
