“Striker” 5.56 NATO 16″ AR-15 Carbine – Team Dream Build

“Striker” is a 16″ 5.56 NATO AR-15 carbine built around a Strike Industries-heavy upgrade path, with a clean matching style, adjustable gas system, Key-Mo muzzle device, and fast red dot setup. It starts with a familiar carbine foundation and turns it into a more polished range, competition, and suppressor-ready build with a focused Strike Industries vibe.

  • About the build

“Striker” started with a simple idea: take a standard off-the-shelf style AR and transform it using mostly Strike Industries parts. The result is a 16″ 5.56 NATO carbine with a unified look, upgraded controls, a Gridlok Lite handguard, and just enough color and styling to stand out without turning into a full custom showpiece.

This build is meant for range shooting, competition use, and suppressed setups. The 16″ Ballistic Advantage barrel keeps the rifle in a practical general-purpose length, while the Strike Industries collar adjustable gas block gives the shooter more control over tuning when ammo or suppressor use changes. The Gridlok Lite QD handguard is a key part of the setup because it works with the adjustable gas system and helps keep access to the gas block more practical.

The personality of “Striker” is exactly what the name suggests: Strike Industries-inspired, styled, and upgraded. It is for someone who wants a set look and a little extra visual edge, but still wants the rifle to stay useful as a 5.56 carbine rather than becoming a parts-board project.

    – The Dead Air Keymount flash hider sets the rifle up around the KeyMo/Keymount suppressor ecosystem. That works well if you are already using compatible Dead Air-style mounts, but it does limit suppressor mounting options unless the muzzle device is changed.

    – The Strike Industries collar-adjustable gas block and Gridlok Lite handguard are also part of the intended setup. Swapping the handguard may affect how easily the gas block can be accessed or adjusted, so that combination should be treated as part of the build’s design rather than two unrelated parts.

Upper Receiver Parts

The upper assembly is built around an AT3 forged AR-15 upper receiver, a 16″ Ballistic Advantage 5.56 NATO government profile barrel, and the Strike Industries Gridlok Lite 15″ M-LOK handguard. That combination gives the rifle a full-length front end with plenty of mounting space while keeping the build centered on a practical 16″ carbine layout.

The operating system uses a Strike Industries collar adjustable gas block, gas tube, AT3 black nitride bolt carrier group, and Strike Industries T-Bone gas-busting charging handle. A Dead Air Keymount flash hider finishes the muzzle, while the Strike Industries shim kit supports proper muzzle device installation. Strike Industries finishing parts like the Ultimate Dust Cover, extended forward assist, LINK Anchor handstop, LINK angled QD mount, and M-LOK rail covers tie the whole front end into the same visual style.-

Lower Receiver Parts

The lower starts with an AT3 AT-15 stripped lower receiver and leans hard into Strike Industries controls and furniture. The Strike Industries Mod One stock, multi-angle pistol grip, Fang trigger guard, Flip Switch safety selector, billet magazine catch, extended bolt catch, V2 castle nut with extended QD end plate, and ultra-light takedown pins all help give the lower the matching Strike-driven layout.

For the trigger, Striker uses a Rise Armament 4.5 lb two-stage trigger, giving the rifle a cleaner and more deliberate pull than a standard mil-spec setup. The buffer system stays straightforward with an AT3 mil-spec buffer tube, carbine buffer, and carbine buffer spring, keeping the lower practical while the upgraded controls and furniture carry the personality of the build.

ACCESSORIES

Striker keeps the sighting setup fast and simple with an AT3 ACE red dot mounted on a UTG Super Slim Picatinny RMR-pattern mount. That fits the purpose of the build well: quick target acquisition for range use, competition-style shooting, and general 5.56 carbine work.

Magpul MBUS front and rear backup sights round out the setup with a dependable secondary sighting option. The overall optic package is not trying to turn Striker into a precision rifle; it is built around speed, clean handling, and a carbine that is easy to run.

The included Lancer L5AWM 30-round magazine matches the modern carbine setup and gives the build a quality 5.56 magazine option. The Strike Industries LINK Anchor handstop, angled QD mount, and rail covers help make the front end more comfortable and usable without breaking from the build’s styling.
