“Sunset” .300 BLK Carbine Kit – Team Dream Build

Sunset is a compact .300 Blackout Team Dream Build with a loud personality, a short 8.5″ barrel, quad rail front end, and a tuned lightweight operating system. Built as part of a matching set with Diesel, this build is made to be soft-shooting, comfortable without a suppressor, and flashy enough to start conversations at the range.

  • About the build

“Sunset” started as a short .300 Blackout SBR built around comfort, balance, and personality. The goal was not to make a quiet suppressed host right away, but to build a compact .300 Blackout that still felt smooth and enjoyable to shoot unsuppressed. The 8.5″ barrel keeps the rifle short and handy, while the quad rail, linear compensator, and custom visual style give it the chunky, attention-grabbing look that made Sunset one of the sticker-worthy builds.

This build is part of a matching pair with “Diesel”, and that matters to the personality of the rifle. “Sunset” is flashy, a little over-the-top, and more interested in getting noticed at the range than blending in with another basic black AR. The look is a big part of the point, but the internals are not just there for show.

The operating system is the real performance hook. A lightweight carrier setup, adjustable gas block, and captured buffer system allow the rifle to be tuned around the minimum gas needed to cycle reliably. That keeps reciprocating mass down and helps give the build the soft, comfortable recoil feel that inspired the project in the first place.

    – The original “Sunset” carbine was built as an SBR and included parts that may not be stocked for the final Dream Build kit. Because of that, the upper and lower will be sold separately where required, and the final production kit may use alternate parts that match the same general purpose and value of the original build.

    – The original “Sunset” was cerakoted in Copper, Blood Orange, and Polar Blue. The dream build version will have standard black colored parts.

Upper Receiver Parts

The “Sunset” upper is built around a KAK Industry 8.5″ OE-SPEC pistol gas .300 Blackout barrel, AT3 Slick Side billet upper, and 9″ AT3 Pro Quad Rail. That combination gives the build its short, chunky profile while keeping the front end useful for lights, grips, or other rail-mounted accessories.

The operating system uses a JP Enterprises LMOS carrier, AT3 replacement bolt, CMMG bolt rehab parts kit, and Wojtek adjustable gas block. Because the lightweight carrier setup is not a standard mil-spec configuration, the adjustable gas block and buffer system are important parts of the build rather than just upgrades. A Breek Arms Micro Warhammer charging handle and Ultradyne Athena linear compensator finish out the upper with compact handling and forward-directed blast.

Lower Receiver Parts

The lower starts with an AT3 Tactical AT-15 forged lower receiver and adds a Ballistic Engineering Accurized adjustable single-stage trigger for a cleaner, more refined trigger pull. A Timber Creek oversized trigger guard, ambidextrous safety, extended magazine release, and takedown/pivot pin set round out the controls.

The recoil system is built around an Armaspec Sound Mitigation Buffer paired with a mil-spec buffer tube, end plate, and castle nut. That captured buffer setup works with the lightweight operating system in the upper to help keep the rifle smooth and comfortable. The B5 SOPMOD stock and Ergo Deluxe grip give the lower a more substantial feel, which fits the compact but chunky personality of the build.

ACCESSORIES

“Sunset” uses an AT3 ALPHA Micro 2 MOA Red Dot Sight with a cantilever riser mount, keeping the optic setup simple, fast, and appropriate for a short .300 Blackout build. This is not a long-range precision setup; it is built for close-range shooting, range use, and fast target transitions.

The included Magpul PMAG gives the build a standard AR-15 magazine option. Since .300 Blackout and 5.56 use similar magazine setups, shooters should clearly separate .300 Blackout ammunition and magazines from 5.56 gear to avoid dangerous caliber mix-ups.
