About The Build
This pistol build is all about duty-ready performance and everyday versatility. We started with the FN 509 platform, known for its reliability and ergonomic design, and paired it with an AT3 Tactical Red Dot to deliver fast target acquisition and improved accuracy under pressure. For low-light capability, we added a Streamlight TLR-1 HL Weapon Light. With its high-output illumination and durable construction, it ensures you can positively identify targets in any environment while maintaining full control of your setup. The streamlined integration keeps everything balanced without adding unnecessary bulk.
To tie it all together, this build is supported by the Kore Essentials 1.75″ Battle Belt. We’ve intentionally left the holster choice open for this build. With so many options available-whether you prefer IWB, OWB, or something more specialized-it ultimately comes down to your personal setup and carry style. This gives you the flexibility to choose exactly what works best for you.
Parts Used In the FN 509 Duty Build
You can really go wrong with anything from FN. Developed as FN’s submission to the US Army’s Modular Handgun System Trials. It was designed to handle hard use and rough conditions making it a perfect option for duty or carry. Topped with the AT3 Tactical ACE Red Dot, you get a perfectly sized window for the handgun. The 3 MOA dot is easy to acquire and comes with shake-awake and auto-brightness technologies so you never have to worry if your red dot is powered on when the fight comes to you. Now, on the tac-rail of the FN 509 we have the Streamlight TLR-1 HL that puts out 1000 lumens of blinding light.
