“Backseat” CQB .300 Blackout 7.5″ AR-15 Pistol – Team Dream Build

“Backseat” is a compact .300 Blackout AR-15 pistol built around close-quarters practicality, suppressed-use potential, and easy transport. With a 7.5″ barrel, folding adapter, pistol brace, quad rail, weapon light, red dot, and magnifier, this Team Dream Build is made for cramped spaces, range use, and a compact defensive setup that does not need a full-size rifle case.

  • About the build

“Backseat” started with a practical question: what does an AR actually need to do well in tight spaces? The answer was a compact .300 Blackout pistol built around home-defense use, apartment-friendly maneuverability, and transport in a more everyday-sized bag instead of a large tactical rifle case.

The 7.5″ .300 Blackout barrel keeps the build short, while the SB Tactical brace and Sylvan Arms folding adapter make the overall package easier to store and transport. The KAK extended slimline flash can (subbing for faux can) gives the short barrel a cleaner front-end setup, and the 7″ AT3 Pro Quad Rail keeps the build sturdy, simple, and ready for accessories.

This build is intentionally not a lightweight minimalist pistol. The light, magnifier, folding adapter, quad rail, and secure mounting choices add weight, but that tradeoff supports the purpose: a robust compact AR pistol with a serious close-range layout. It is not built for distance work past typical carbine ranges, and that is not the point.

    – “Backseat” is built around .300 Blackout, a short barrel, and suppressed-use potential. Ammunition choice matters, especially if the buyer intends to use subsonic loads, defensive ammunition, or a suppressor. Tuning may be needed depending on ammunition, suppressor use, buffer setup, and gas block adjustment.

    – This build includes a pistol brace and folding adapter. The purchaser is responsible for ensuring the final configuration complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Upper Receiver Parts

The upper assembly is built around a 7.5″ AT3 .300 Blackout barrel, AT3 Slick Side billet upper, and 7″ AT3 Pro Quad Rail. That combination gives Backseat its compact CQB profile while keeping the front end strong enough for a light, handstop-style accessories, and hard-use handling.

Inside the upper, an AT3 black nitride BCG, pistol-length gas system, Wojtek adjustable gas block, and Breek Arms WARHAMMER Mod 2 charging handle keep the operating system practical and tunable. The KAK 5″ extended slimline flash can helps direct blast forward, which makes sense on a short .300 Blackout build that may be shot unsuppressed or eventually paired with a suppressor-ready setup.

Lower Receiver Parts

The lower is built around compact handling and secure control. The SB Tactical SBA3X brace, Sylvan Arms Gen 5 folding adapter, AT3 buffer system, and AT3 ambidextrous safety give the pistol a practical close-range layout without turning it into a full-size rifle setup.

The grip choice is also more important than it looks on paper. The builder wanted a grip that allows a high, secure hand position with strong texture and good trigger access, which matters on a short defensive-style AR pistol. A flared magwell with integral trigger guard, anti-walk pins, and AT3 small parts round out the lower with straightforward functional upgrades.

ACCESSORIES

“Backseat” uses an AT3 ALPHA green dot with an AT3 DELTA 3x magnifier, giving the pistol a fast close-range sighting setup with the option to add some magnification when needed. It is not a long-range optic package, but it gives the build more flexibility than a red dot alone.

The Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1L gives the pistol a compact weapon light option, which fits the intended close-quarters role. The quad rail format also gives the shooter plenty of direct mounting space for controls, rail covers, backup sights, or other accessories.

The included Magpul PMAG M3 .300 Blackout 20-round magazine fits the compact nature of the build better than a full-size 30-round magazine. It keeps the profile shorter when shooting from confined positions, while also clearly separating .300 Blackout use from standard 5.56 magazines.

“Backseat” also includes Magpul MBUS 3 front and rear backup sights, giving the build a secondary sighting option behind the red dot and magnifier setup.
