Die Free Co Kung Fu Grip AR-15 Pistol Grip

I wanted to like this DFC kung fu grip so much that I bought two - one black, one FDE. My plan was to swap out the B5 type 23 grips on my [link removed]” AR15 and my [link removed]” AR9. I wanted a more vertical grip angle and to change up the look. To my dismay, I found that this grip, in comparison to the B5, feels cheaper, has less aggressive grip texture, and doesn’t provide the improved ergonomics I was hoping for.

The slightly more vertical angle of the kung fu grip does not change my grip angle much or perhaps at all. That’s because the B5 is pretty vertical, only a few degrees less vertical than the kung fu grip. However, the B5 is longer and allows me to position my hand slightly lower on the grip. This affectively gives me the ability to create a more natural angle relative to the trigger.

The kung fu grip has odd geometries that feel awkward in my hand. I can feel all the pressure points from the wider front section, the finger undercut, and the shorter length created by the angled cut at the bottom of the grip. With the B5, you don’t notice the surface irregularities because there are none. The B5’s plain design actually feels more comfortable.

The overall construction of the kung fu grip feels flimsy. This is the biggest disappointment. I can squeeze the grip and the sides buckle inwards. The texture of the kung fu grip has a cheap look and the stippling is slippery. When I’m holding the two grips in my hands and comparing them side by side, the B5 just looks and feels like a duty grade, high end grip; and the kung fu grip looks and feels like a toy.

I imagine the kung fu grip is an amazing upgrade over a mil spec grip and even some of modern enhanced AR 15 grips. However, I think there are better options available at this price point. Perhaps if it were priced at $10 or made out of a better material, it would be worth it.

I'm a big fan of this grip after a small modification. I love the grip angle and the finger groove, but the grip texture was a hair too aggressive for my liking. A little 220 grit sandpaper and it's absolutely perfect.

Great grip with a comfortable feel and solid build quality. The texture gives you a secure hold without being overly aggressive, and the overall design feels great in the hand. Simple, well made, and definitely worth the price.

I've generally used Magpul MOE grips or Hogue Overmolded grips with the beavertail. Never thought about trying one of these until recently. I usually prefer the overmolded rubbery feel the Hogue grips give, but this DFCO is nice with the angle, especially in my AR10 DMR build. I'd recommend giving this a shot. I'm not disappointed at all and would have a hard time deciding between this and another Hogue for future builds.

Love the feel of these grips. I liked them so much, I ordered two more to replace the mil-spec grips on my other two rifles that did not already have them. For the price, it was worth the comfort and grip angle to replace them. The ergonomics and texture is great.

Good quality, nothing wrong with it, just a little too vertical for my desire.

I really like the Die Free grips! They make the grip angle feel more comfortable and look great on top of it! I have installed them on almost all of my ARs !!!

I like the way that it feels it really makes you pull the rifle into your shoulder
