Ambidextrous AR-15 Bolt Catch – Convert Any Mil-Spec Lower

The PDQ (Pretty Damn Quick) Ambidextrous bolt release upgrades your AR-15 for ease of use, whether you’re right or left handed. Unlike many drop-in ambi bolt catches which use a linkage in the trigger guard, the PDQ is faster, safer, and just plain feels better. This PDQ allows for lightning-fast reloads, and makes clearing malfunctions far easier. And your strong hand never has to leave the pistol grip.

This part does require some minor gunsmithing to your AR-15 lower, but this upgrade can be done with a few tools and a little patience. Be sure to check out the video below to see how the whole process can be done at home. Guntology also includes written instructions with every PDQ, for completion using a Dremel tool. Instructions are also included for use with a milling machine.

This upgrades requires permanent modification of your lower receiver. Neither AT3 nor Guntology assumes any responsibility for any damage you may cause to your lower receiver. If you prefer, you can also take your lower and PDQ to your local gunsmith for a professional installation.

Great idea, needs more thought

Had to heavily modify PDQ to not have as much downward pressure from the dust cover so it would lock back with dust cover installed. Works flawlessly after my modifications. An easy fix would be to offer a dust cover that has a bumper that prevents the dust cover from opening as far as it does. That combo would be perfect. But as the product is sold now, you have to remove the dust cover for the firearm to lock back. That's the only way it will function properly. I purchased this knowing it's issues, but knew I could fix the problem. All good now

Nice addition for any rifle, mostly.

Installation was very straight forward, fit was good. I accomplished the installation with a hand file and went slow, this is not an installation for 'A Dremel and a dream'. Much easier to drop the bolt on a load/reload. I like it better then a BAD lever, which I have on all my AR's. Now for the downsides. If your lower has excessive side to side play in the bolt release this will cause the lever to hang slightly as the unit tends to torque when the follower pushes up on the lever. The second issue is that the lever has to not only overcome the torque issue but also the spring tension of the dust cover since the dust cover rests on the lever putting downward pressure on it. I swapped lowers with a side charging upper I have and with some well placed lubricant everything is working great. It still gets hung occasionally when manually operating the bolt with an empty magazine but while actually shooting there is no issue since the force of the bolt hitting the end of travel will jar the lever loose and engage the hold open, even with an upper with a dust cover. With all that said, I will still get one more and would recommend you try one for yourself. Installation is easier than you would think, about 2 hours start to finish. Hope this helps.

awesome

This ambi bolt release should be the standard on modern sporting rifles today. It takes a gunsmith or someone with good dremel skills to install this. There are videos as to how to install this, they help a lot. I have 2 now and in my opinion, they are better that any B.A.D lever.

Perfect add-on item for the garage gunsmith

After building several AR's I wanted something more difficult to add to my builds. Sadly this is not more difficult, it is however very satisfying to add. It is more easy than I thought. I have purchased more to add to my AR's. I really enjoyed putting this on. If you can bring yourselves to cut into a receiver you will feel greater satisfaction with your build. Buy it, I have.
